This tool allows us to connect to a remote computer that has an installed FTP server and modify the files that are in it, either upload, delete or modify files and / or folders.
To carry out the installation of this tool we recommend you to use our support page “FTP Client Installation Filezilla“.
Once Filezilla is installed, we will proceed to execute it. We can see in general a top window of information that will show messages of the connection, a left panel that shows the folders and files of our computer and on the right side the folders and files of the server.
We will start by adding a new “Site” so that we do not have to put all the data every time we want to connect to the server. For this we will click on the first icon starting from the left of the application, under “File”. This is known as the “Site Manager”.
To add a new site, we will click on the “New site” button and we will give it a name, in our example “Infofly”. Once the name has been added, we can configure the rest of the options.
The configuration values should be provided by the FTP Server, in our case the hosting where we have hosted our web project. Normally these values will be in a section that says “FTP Access”. The values that we will use are from the hosting of 1and1.
- Protocol: SFTP – SSH File Transfer Protocol
- Server: home12345678.1and1-data.host
- Port: 22
- Access mode: Ask the password
- User: u12345678
Finally we will click on “Connect” to start the connection with the remote server. If everything went well in the top Filezilla information window we can see the connection messages. Once connected, the server files will appear on the right side.
To pass files from our computer to the server, just press the right button on the file / s and / or folder / s and in the menu that will be displayed click on “Upload”.
Otherwise, if what we want is to pass files from the server to our computer, we will press the right button on the file / s and / or folder / s and on the menu that will be displayed, click on “Download”.
